Liv Tyler Presents: Perfection

I'm back from Paris, tired and perfumed. There are many stories to tell, shopping advice and fun discoveries to share, but I'm too jet-lagged to make sense or form full sentences. Instead, I'd rather stare at Liv Tyler at the Christian Dior show of Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. It's great to see her looking so perfect (after a couple of bad red carpet choices: here and here). While I'm not sure about the shoes, she brings back some classic Hollywood glamor (Janet Jackson notwithstanding).

What say you? Do you like the shoes?

  1. I actually do like them, in fact they were the first thing I noticed in that top picture. Tres chic!! I think she has too much black eye-liner all around though. The dress is fabulous. Can't wait to hear more about your trip!

  2. Personally, I have to concur. I think the dress and hair are a so gorgeous, and the shoes take away from the rest of the ensemble. Some black mary-janes would look adorable with the outfit, but then I love mary-janes with everything so I'm probably not the best judge. Anywho, looking forward to hearing about Paris!

  3. I'd pretty much like Arwen no matter what she wore. Though she isn't looking very Arwenish here with all that liner...

  4. That's Janet Jackson?!?! I honestly thought "Gee, Charo is looking good these days!"

  5. She looks gorgeous. And I think the shoes are meant to keep the fashionistas from saying, that outfit is too OLD for her! As if looking like a well-put-together grownup is a fashion crime.

  6. She looks lovely!

I didn't notice the shoes -- was busy wondering where she found that great dress -- but I do think they make her look more current. Not that I care if one looks current (am perfectly thrilled with attire that borders on a Jackie O costume), but some media just lust over trends, as marchilon implied. I guess if Liv wants to grace the pages of US, etc, she must slip into an gladiator sandle like the rest of Hollywood.

  7. Calypso- I know what you mean about the eye liner. It's not something I'd attempt on my own face, but I think she pulls it off. Liv's eyes are so beautiful and this makeup makes them pop, at least in photos. It's probably not a good idea for us mortals, though.

  8. Kassie- I'm with you on the mary-janes. It's my favorite shoe style.

  9. Mukho- I know what you mean. She's gorgeous even when dressed horribly (and missing her elf ears).

  10. Tom- have I told you lately that I love you?

  11. March- I agree 100%. Maybe we're old-fashioned, I don't know, but well put together always win in my book.

  12. Raven- don't get me started on those gladiator sandals. In a few years people would look at photos of themselves as stumpy legged fashion victims and wonder why it seemed like such a good idea.
