More Celeb Eyeliner: Eliza Dushku

Last week we had Emma Watson going to town with her black eyeliner. Like most of those who commented, I thought it was a teenager's thing. But maybe not. Here we see Eliza Dushku (whom I can't help but love. Like all the other Buffy nerds, I'm giddy with excitement about seeing her on Joss Whedon's new series, Dollhouse), sporting a slightly more subtle version of this look. To be honest, I'm not sure this works. Eliza is beautiful and sexy, but something seems off. What do you think (click on the image for a closeup)?

  1. I think the sparkly shadow with the smoky eye makeup makes her look like she's had work done. It's a little aging, and a little too Donna Mills for a girl that isn't 30 yet

  2. Her eyes are beautiful even tho the liner is a little heavy for my taste (and, like tmp00, I think the look is probably a bit aging). Maybe less liner and a non-sparkly shadow? I don't know. Also, I think the lipstick throws the look off, not the right shade. I think a pinkier shade, more raspberryish (or some berry) and less glossy, would look better with the blush and eyes. What do you think?

  3. At first, I was going to say that there's too much weight on the outer corners, which give her a distinctly cat-eyed look, but in the close up it seems to be her creases. Those are really, really deep, and they compete with the almond shape created by massive eyeliner.

  4. I think a shimmery eye doesn't go with the rest of the look. I love the rest of the makeup.

  5. with the crease and heavily-lined lower eyes, she's headed waaayyy too far into liza minelli territory! i'm sure that's not the look she was going for.

  6. its as simple as that girls-as a make up artist i can only say that her eye sockets are droopy and very deep set-which completely gives her a sad look:-/

  7. I don't see anything wrong with the eyeliner.

Maybe the eyeshadow could be a different color, but other than
that. Believe me, I have seen
    much worse makeup looks!

  8. I think her makeup looks fabulous. Maybe a little too much sparkly eyeshadow but i'd have to say my makeup looks pretty similar, so if she's not looking good i better change up my look!

  9. I do not know this person, but the first thing I reacted when I saw this picture was her nose which is kind of strangely narrow:-)) and I get an illusion that her beautiful eyes switched their places - left and right sides are wrong placed - do not know how to explain properly:-))

  10. I think it's not just the shimmery eyeshadow, but the softish lip with the hard-edge eye. We're used to seeing her as a kind of bad-girl (also a horrible buffy fangirl) and the catty black eyeliner works with her dark hair-eyes-medium complexion. The fact that the eyeshadow is white, the lipstick is peach-to-orange, and the liner is black is a combination that is rarely executed well. I would have gone with a nude (not shimmer) shadow, chapsticked lips, and a touch of bronzer, but I'm also blonde, gray-eyed, and paler than normal. I wonder if maybe it's just the warm lip-cheek combo paired with the coolness of the white shadow that bugs me....

    Whatever, she's still gorgeous.

  11. I think this is a situation where I have to make a distinction between red carpet beauty and normal people beauty. This is a look that would scare the crap out of me in sunlight (hellooo spider lashes) but under the harsh glare of lights on the red carpet, it sort of works. Natural makeup would make her look washed out in that light, I think.
