I love orange and can pull it off in most shades, even though not in makeup. Here are a couple of recent example of orange dresses from the last couple of days:
The ever so lovely Emmy Rossum in J. Mendel (on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night), and Drew Barrymore in an inexplicable Jil Sander dress at the 50th Cover Girl anniversary party. I love the color, of course, but this cut is horrible. The two-toned hair also needs to go.
My own personal choice is the DVF Metro wrap dress in Sangria from Diane Von Furstenberg's 2010 Resort collection. I always pick a resort item or two when they go on sale this time of the year and save them for spring/summer, where they actually belong.

I love orange! Nothing like a Tangerine lipstick to make me happy!
ReplyDeleteOrange makes me almost irrationally happy, but it doesn't work with my skin at all...
ReplyDeleteI rarely do brights with clothing, but orange is my exception. It's a flattering color for lots of people.
ReplyDeleteLove that DVF dress, perfect summer dress.
I was very happy to hear that orange/coral will be popular this spring/summer.
Oh my god, the DVF wrap dress - want.
ReplyDeleteI am giving up the idea that I could pull off an orange lipstick. I do better with red/oranges, coral or an orange gloss. Yes, I think I need to add an orange wrap dress in my closet!
ReplyDeleteGoodness' gracious! That Jil Sander dress looks like an orange potato sack. I don't think I've seen a worse figure-killing dress ever. While oranges do work with my coloring, the closest I'll wear is a pumpkin, nary a coral blush or lippie in my makeup drawers either. Too sunny a color for me. :)
ReplyDeleteI am as pleased as can be that spring is ushering in a resurgence of orange. It's one of my favorite fashion colors. I like my orange deep and intense, but I'll take just about any iteration of the color except for one that skews towards the yellow end of the spectrum like that unfortunate potato sack Drew is wearing.
ReplyDeleteI love orange, but leave it to clothing or accessories vs. lipstick. As an olive-skinned brunette, it's a color I can carry off. I have to remember to keep the makeup simple and neutral or it gets to be too much....
