Laura Mercier Riviera Eye Shadow Quad Summer 2011 Portofino Collection Sneak Peek

Here's the quickest sneak peek of Laura Mercier Riviera Eye Shadow Quad from her  Summer 2011 Portofino Collection. I played with everything in this collection and didn't find another single item that worked for me (the Sheer Crème Glow especially didn't make any sense- neither a blush nor a highlighter and horribly sticky). But the Riviera palette was love at first sight, first swatch and first application. I still need to test it more for a full review, but since the quad is already at most Laura Mercier counters ($40) and online, I figured you might want to have a good look.

All photos are mine.

  1. Nice looking--Laura Mercier's stock photo of that palette looks horrific--like a box of blue chalk. In contrast, your photo shows the dimension and prettiness--esp. your finger swatches. Thank you!! :)

  2. I agree that your swatches show it in a better light. I passed on this eyeshadow palette (because of the washed out stock photo), and ordered Sheer Crème Glow instead, which I now regret and will probably send back untested. Maybe I can call them before it ships and swap the items! Thanks for the peek.

  3. I just picked this up today after seeing your review and I have to say, I LOVE this! I walked by it the other day but was a little scared of the blue. Even with fair-ish skin and light hair, dark-blue green eyes, I've never tried blue shadow. I have to say this palette is wonderful. I don't even feel like I'm wearing blue on my eyes. The colors work so well together, light yet pigmented and blend so nicely. I used the darker blue over the top of my black eyeliner and it just softens and brightens my blue eyes. If anyone is on the fence over trying out this blue quad... go for it. Now I'm thinking about going back for the cream blush :) Anyway, I'm happy I found your post or I probably wouldn't have tried it out... thanks!

  5. Don't write off the Sheer Creme glow! I use it daily over a primer and then dust with Laura's transparent setting powder. It give a nice glow of pinky gold. Don't be too heavy handed though all you need is a nice swipe with a sponge or powderpuff. I like it very much.
