It might be my personal bias about short vs. long hair, but I really don't like this new look sported by Evan Rachel Wood. Evan is and will always be a gorgeous woman, but I think this style ages her considerably. I would never have guessed Evan Rachel Wood is only 23 just from looking at the photos of her taken last night at the L.A. season premiere party for True Blood.
What say you?

Oh noooooo.... Why on earth did she do that??!
ReplyDeleteShe looked so good, glamourous and womanly before, now she looks like a little boy :/
I think she looks lovely but definitely more mature. I much prefer her longer locks and fairer skin to this tanned, short haired look :-( Maybe it was for a role?
ReplyDeletei think this hair looks quite cute on her - it's her make up that ages her. the lips are lined too dark, the cheeks too much contoured without a flush, the brows too thin and dark.
ReplyDeleteWell, she's definitely lost her Vampire Queen edge.
ReplyDeleteLove! Had to stare for a minute, but definitely love.
ReplyDeleteI have ALMOST this exact hair cut which probably makes me biased but I love the cut on her. However, her makeup is not that great.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I think this has totally added a fantastic edge to her Vampire Queen character. Just add some really dark smoky eyes and a burgandy lipstick and she's good to go!
xo
Why did she do that? I am not a fan of this hair on her. I love Evan Rachel Wood, she usually looks so beautiful. I love how even though she's considered "young hollywood" she doesn't follow in the footsteps of all the hipster stars just doing whatever is trendy. She has always been chic. Hopefully she will let her hair grow out.
ReplyDeletei think she looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteher makeup is what's aging her. not the hair. it's very 50s-60s vamp style and doesn't quite fit the kicky cut.
cheers,
minette
Her new do is just great. It's fresh and less stodgy as so many "long hair just there" looks are. It's true that her makeup is what's making her look too mature. I applaud her willingness to try a new look.
ReplyDeleteIMHO I think in general she looks older than her mere 24 years
ReplyDeleteNot so much. I see Anette Benning Lite.
ReplyDeleteI think this will work with her vampire look quite well, though. It can be made to look really severe. She'll just be less juicy looking.
Why do we say 'chopped off' simply because someone cut their hair short? The term itself is incredibly negative, with 'OMG, what the f-ck were they thinking?' connotations.
ReplyDeleteShort hair can be sexy, too.
I cannot possibly count the number of women I have seen hang onto long hair in an attempt to look younger. Until it's hideous.
Goldie Hawn comes to mind.
There is no one size fits all. And really, it's just hair. I say experiment all you want.
She's really only 23?? I thought she was much older. Go figure - if you're not careful with hair and makeup and clothing, it adds years.
ReplyDeleteI think she looks gorgeous and sophisticated instead of like every other long-haired, blondorexic, tanorexic, anorexic bimbo. She has great features for short haie, and the color is great, too. Hooray for Evan for shirking the Hollywood mold!
ReplyDeleteI guess chopping off the hair is something every 20-something tries at some point. She has great bone structure so it suits her.
ReplyDeleteI actually love the hair, but it's true that the makeup leaves something to be desired.
ReplyDeleteShe needs softer lighter makeup on the lips and brows to modernise her look. Some soft liner/shadow smudged into her lower lashline would update her eye makeup as well as the lack of lower eyemakeup is definitely a retro trend.
ReplyDeleteI like her eye makeup. The hair is a bit short, but she is still lovely.
ReplyDeleteShe's gorgeous, but I think her short hair would look better as a pixie, going down and in toward her face, not up and away. Just a touch more reddish brown and less blonde would add softness.
ReplyDeleteI think dark locks work best as the Vampire Queen, but then being a brunette, I'm biased ;)
Totally agree with Josephine. Where is it written that you can only be sexy and feminine with long hair? I see so many women with long hair that really should reconsider their look. Just because one can grow it long doesn't mean one should. Like short hair, long hair doesn't look good on everyone. This girl is so beautiful she would look good with a potato sack on her head.
ReplyDeleteThis is not about long hair vs. short hair, obviously there is a place for both in this world. It's just that this style does NOT suit Evan Rachel Wood, nor does the makeup, in my opinion. She could use a new hair and makeup team.
ReplyDeleteThe hair is cute...she can pull it off. I agree with those who object to the makeup, which makes her look my age. And not in a good way.
ReplyDeleteShe absolutely has the bone structure to pull this cut off and it's styled very well in my opinion. My concern is how it looks after it's washed and dried, having had short hair myself. But I don't have to style it, she does, and if she loves it, that's what matters to me. The makeup is also easily washable, definitely not permanent, and is easily changed.
ReplyDeleteI can only speculate that having Marilyn Manson as a boyfriend, plus living life, helped her mature. I don't think she looks all that much older and I too am glad she can take risks that other "Hollywood starlets" are afraid to take.
She looks twenty years older now. I hope she'll never do it again.
