I just realized that I've spent the last 27 years of my life admiring Madonna. There are many better singers and actors, but there's no one quite like her. Here she is at the Venice Film Festival premier of the movie she wrote and directed, W.E.. She's wearing a Vionnet gown that I hear was custom made. I'd sell my soul for a short not red-carpety version of this butterfly dress.

I'm a mega Madonna fan and she IS my style icon.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see her looking beautiful and glowing again. Love that dress.
Me, too. I've always loved Madonna.
ReplyDeleteI finally saw her in concert on her last tour. She is an amazing woman, ageless beauty!
ReplyDeleteNot a Madonna fan but that dress is absolutely GORGEOUS!!
ReplyDeleteFinally looking elegant and age-appropriate! (Although I think that dress would look beautiful on anyone!)
ReplyDeleteI love Madonna as well.. (almost) no matter what she wears, as you said, there's no one quite like her, and it's admirable how long she's been able to be so successfull.
ReplyDeleteI have been a Madonna fan since my pre-teens. I welcome the move away from the leotards! I love how she looks in this dress.
ReplyDeleteBurning question: what lipstick was she wearing?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this dress. I wonder what the lipstick is as well. Reminds me of my favorite long discontinued Coco Red.
ReplyDeleteWhat a whimsical (and youthful) dress. On a side note, her closeup shot reminds me loosely of Kate Moss; perhaps its the eyeliner?
ReplyDeleteI think that her lipstick color clashes against her skin color creating a "dirty" effect, as for the dress, again, not the best option for her.
ReplyDeleteYeah. That is really, really good. The half-assed Swing Shift hair I could live without, but the dress is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteNo; sorry. Madonna is talented, but no beauty in my opinion. She does have some style, though; much like the subject of her film!
ReplyDeleteSame here, on both counts. She is looking especially lovely, though. And the dress is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteLove the dress. But me thinks she is looking more Peggy Lee these days in Peggy's later days...
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed with what a surprisingly good accessory those sunglasses are with that gown (and her diamond and ruby bracelets).
