...but I have no idea why.
Alexa Chung has too many unflattering moments for me to accept her a style icon. The denim playsuits she's been sporting lately are a good example. Even if one could say that expecting fashion on a NYC summer day is too much, I still think that wearing such an item to a NYC movie premiere is just wrong. Alexa's aversion to combed her is also quite puzzling (she actually confirmed it in an interview).
Seriously: a denim playsuit- yay or nay?

Sometimes when I see what Alexa Chung is wearing, I think, "Oh, dear." I also have the same reaction to seeing some of Chloe Sevigny's outfits.
ReplyDeleteOften, when faced with a fashion conundrum, I like to play a game called "What would Sofia (Coppola) do?" I think Sofia would say no to a denim playsuit!
THIS times 1000!
DeleteIt's just so voluminous around her, like a child in too big hand-me-downs. I don't think it's flattering, which is what I think clothes should be, even if they are avant-garde. I'm not quite sure what image she is trying to project.
ReplyDeleteWho is Alexa Chung? Why is this important?
ReplyDeleteawkward and awful
ReplyDeletehonestly the buzz around this woman must be a joke.
She seems to be going for a sort of innocent preteen waif look, which always turns me off. Whatever the inspiration, it's such a complete waste of a slender figure that could carry off far more attractive and interesting clothing! ~~nozknoz
ReplyDeleteGenerally I've never understood the whole fuss about this woman's (non-existing) style...
ReplyDeleteShe dresses, except now and then when in a designer loaner, like an 8 year old! And her hair - it always looks simply uncombed and badly colored - even when in a designer loaner. She first gained famed in England - for what I do not know, became an 'It' girl fashion icon. You know - she is famous for being famous!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 100%. She has too many missteps for me to ever consider her someone I want to follow in fashion. And the denim jumpsuit just looks ridiculous. Sort of like she is trying to channel her inner 5 year old.
ReplyDeleteITA with the other commenters here. I mean, she seems like a perfectly pleasant young woman, but why oh why is she considered a "style icon"? I like to check out the 'Look of the Day' @ InStyle dot com on a regular basis, and Alexa and Rhianna show up on the lists constantly, which always leaves me scratching my head. At least Chloe Sevigny has been noticeably absent lately. I never understood that one either.
ReplyDeleteI can't fault her outfit or style in the least. Of what I have seen of her, she looks very normal, which is refreshing.
