The 65th Primetime Emmys red carpet: dresses, celebs... It's all fun and games until someone wears the couch.
What I've seen so far: Tina Fey in ombre hair (when will this trend go away?) and some serious cleavage, Zosia Mamet looking less miserable than usual (maybe because she has Micky Mouse ears on her boobs), Linda Cardellini in a regal Donna Karan dress. Not bad!
Kiernan Shipka continues to be a) adorable, and b) age appropriate. Something that Miley never was even at that age.
I'm not sure yet what I think of Mayim Bilaik's all emerald ensemble. She's beautiful, but it's very very green. At least her manicure is nude. Sarah Hyland is also having a green moment; hers is vamped nicely with black lace and a dark lipstick. Interesting.
I'm not sure Ryan Seacrest got the (John) Sargent reference the stunning Christina Hendricks made about her Christian Siriano dress, which makes me like her even more.
The Deschanel sisters, Emily and Zooey. I always wonder about sibling rivalry with these two. Emily looks more alive, and I'm very much over Zooey's bangs (and maybe even Zooey herself), but the dress is pretty.
Elisabeth Moss and her mother made my evening. The pretty dresses (Andrew Gn for Elisabeth, Valentino on mom) were the cherry on top of the graceful demeanor. I hope Elisabeth wins an award. She deserves it, even if I couldn't bear watching past the first episode of Top Of The Lake.
Another trend that needs to die: white pumps. Seriously, enough. As much as I like Lena Heady, the entire look is horrid. Queen Cersei poisons people for smaller offenses.
There's no polite way to say this: there are things growing out of Kerry Washington's breasts.
Lena Dunham and Claire Danes did away with Seacrest, which is not a bad thing. I may be the only one in the universe who likes Lena's eye makeup (not so much the Prada tea cozy), but this bright green think works and it's interesting, something that rarely happens on the red carpet. Clare Danes looks inexplicably orange next to Lena, and she still has the flapper thing going on, which I guess goes well with her figure. Lots of sternum, but it kind of works.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus is a red carpet queen. She's been doing this for decades and this Monique Lhuillier gown might be my favorite thing she's ever worn.
Julie Bowen is funny and wonderful. And needs to fire her stylist or whoever chose the dress. This fluffy thing is so not her. And doesn't fit right at the top.
January Jones is NOT in Versace, which is a very good thing.
I was a bit speechless when I saw Heidi Klum. My husband came to the rescue calling her Lizaed Queen. Fine with me.
And to end this on a good note: Lady Mary
