Urban Decay Retrograde Stardust Eyeshadow

This was obviously a gift-with-purchase. There's no chance I'd buy a glitter purple eye shadow while being of sound and disposing mind. I may be color-curious, but I also like to look pretty. And sane.

Obviously, this shade of medium-deep purple we see in Retrograde is not flattering to my face. It makes me look sickly and zombified. It also brings out the worst color undertones, blood vessels and dark shades under my eyes. Too bad, really, because as far as glitter eye shadows go, Stardust has a lot of potential. The texture is softer than I expected, application can be sheer or more pigmented when used over a cream base (if you're looking for rock star drama, a damp sponge applicator is the best tool). There's minimal fallout and the glitter is not very chunky. It's still not an everyday product and probably a lot more suited for clubbing-oriented crowd, but Urban Decay is on to something here.

Bottom Line: Would make a nice gift for a young loved one.

Urban Decay Stardust Eyeshadow ($20) is available from Sephora.
