Weekly Roundup 3/18/11

Spring Equinox is approaching and today I saw the first robin of the season. I can't begin to tell you how happy this makes me. Yesterday, St. Patrick's Day, was all about green eye shadow and green scents (what did you wear?), and while the weekend here is going to be back in the 40s, spring is all but here, which inspires me to play and experiment even more than usual. My blogging friends have some suggestions to get us all started:

A top blogger meets a top makeup artist- Le Métier de Beauté beauty expert Dustin Lujan showed Charlestongirl of Best Things in Beauty the eye shadow technique of Couches de Couleur for a signature look. From experience, I can confirm the results are phenomenal.

For someone who doesn't wear blue nail polish, I spent an incredible amount of time ogling these photos- Sabrina from The Beauty Look Book compares Dior and Chanel iconic blue shades of nail lacquers. Gorgeous!

I'm more than a little obsessed with makeup brush and the way each works with different products. Seriously, a good brush makes all the difference. Kari at Fab Over Forty found this inexpensive Sonia Kashuk for Target brush. It looks like the pointed CoverFX precision brush that I love.

For the DIY among us, home beauty tools are becoming more popular than ever. Kelly from Gouldylox Reviews shows us the latest in beauty gadgets with Micro Needling. She's one brave girl.

Prepare to get jealous. While spending time in Paris, Amy from Café Makeup is sharing with us some European only beauty finds. One of the pieces is this Chanel Vitalumiere Eclat compact.

No one can deny Cate Blanchett's amazing skin. Debbi from DivaDebbi reviews some of the SK-II products that Cate uses. I'm going to dig out some samples I have around.

We are what we eat. Jennifer from BeautyXposé gives us five important foods to add to our diets.

We're only a couple of months away from beach looks and sexy wavy hair. Laurie from Product Girl tries out the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray for excellent results.

This one is here thanks to my beautiful friend E. from Chicago who pointed me to this style blog. The Man Repeller has a hilarious post about what men should wear if they never ever want to get a date.

My favorite read this past week was a post by Olfactoria on Perfume Smellin' Things. The subject is slow blogging, or blogging with your heart and passion. As someone who puts so much of herself into this blog, I know exactly what she means. It's not about being the biggest, most famous blogger, the Perez Hilton of perfume and/or makeup. It's about reaching out, sharing your journey and savoring (almost) every minute of it.

Happy spring!

  3. Hi Gaia
I purchased the Sonia Kashuk brush at Target last night for $4.99-used it this morning, it's great. It is perfect for blending working concealer/foundation into and under the eye area. Best of the cheap thrills so far this year.
