Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour: Sapphire, Amethyst, Khaki

It's all JoeyBunny's fault, since she spotted the Laura Mercier window display as she was waiting for me outside of Saks 5th Avenue flagship store in Manhattan. We were both curious about these new stick eye shadows, so we headed to the counter for some serious playtime. If I had a smaller eye shadow collection I would have walked out of there with all eight available colors, but that's not exactly the case, so I chose the three shades I knew I'll wear the most: Sapphire, Amethyst and Khaki.

Sapphire is true to its name. A deep and rich jewel-like blue. Khaki is more of a brass color while Amethyst is a real misnomer, as the color is more of a shimmery rosy tan. It reminds me a little of Sue Devitt's Surat or a long discontinued color of Lancome Artliner, Socilaite (I loved this one so much). In any case, all three have a low key metallic finish that doesn't cross the line of appropriateness. The texture is incredibly soft and pliable. It's very easy to work with the pencils either as thick liners or as an eye shadow. You have a few seconds to blend and smudge (use Laura Mercier or Sephora smoky eye brush) before the colors sets forever. Really, it doesn't budge at all and requires quite a bit of eye makeup remover when you're ready to take it off.

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour is excellent for a quick but intense look. You can always take your time and use it as a part of a full eye makeup, blend with cream or powder eye shadows, smoke it under the bottom lashes- it works beautifully. I always use a primer and have not experienced any creasing or fading. And as I said above, these eye pencils do not move. Another great thing about this Laura Mercier product is the travel friendliness and how little space it takes in a makeup bag.

Bottom Line: Perhaps I do need Cocoa and Jungle, after all.

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour ($24 each) have not made an appearance yet at most counters, but Neiman Marcus accepts pre-orders (official launch is in late August) and you can call the Saks NYC counter and order by phone.

I need to get my paycheck already so I can go back for Amethyst.

PS - I feel famous for being mentioned here! xoxo

  5. Gorgeous and I am a sucker for a good shadow stick. Joey has excellent taste and I know I'd be in deep trouble if I were lucky enough to shop with her!

  6. All three of those colors are gorgeous, but I'm positively smitten with Sapphire.

I'm hoping these get to my Bloomingdale's sooner rather than later!!

  7. I'll need to pick a few of these up. I have a Mally eye shadow stick in a taupe (what else) shade that I love when I need to be out the door quickly.
    Joey is such an enabler!

  11. Oh wow I've been curious about these and didn't need to see this. I was hoping that she'd have something black, hopefully smoke will be close enough.

Thanks for the review on these!

Needless they put it on me, and I was sold on it's look! Brought out my green eyes! YEAH~!
