Diptyque Vetyverio (Redux)

The Blond and I have few disagreements: he refuses to even look at fresh tomatoes (what kind of a vegetarian hates tomatoes?), he's uncomfortable around big dogs (I can and will smooch any Doberman or Great Dane that crosses my path), and he's a bit iffy about George Clooney. We also disagree about Diptyque Vetyverio. Here's the husband in his own words:

I'm known in some circles as the Vetiver man, and aside from the Le Labo version that I just can't stand, I tend to like most.  Diptyque Vetyverio might not stand out as extremely unique or original but I see it as  the most cheerful out of the ones I own.
Vetivers tend to be a stiff bunch, most often emphasizing the sharp, woodsy, green aspect that I find invigorating. Diptyque Vetyverio starts with a burst of citrus that calms down on my skin to a beautiful soft citrus, wood and vetiver combo that is warm and fun. Gaia thought Vetyverio was lacking in personality, but for me it's a great light summer scent. I love to wear it as a relaxing and casual weekend perfume.

He's right, I guess. Vetyverio definitely smells better on his skin than on mine. I still prefer him in Vetiver Oriental, Vetiver Extraordinaire, vintage Guerlain and others.

Diptyque Vetyverio ($88, 1.7 oz) is available from many boutiques such as Aedes, BeautyHabit and some department stores (Barneys, Saks).

  1. I am thrilled to know that I'm not the only person who runs far away when a tomato is put in my field of vision!

  2. Agreed. I am not all that fond of tomatoes, either. And I can understand your husband not being wild about George Clooney, after all.

  3. I am a huge lover of all things vetiver, but sadly, this did not work on me. The first 15-30 minutes were great, but then it headed downhill from there. It got verry sweet, believe it or not. My only love in this line so far is L' eau Trois.
