Guerlain 164 Chamade Rouge Automatique Lipstick

Guerlain Rouge Automatique lipstick in Chamade (164) is a brilliant face brightener. It was true during spring and summer and it works just as well on sunny but cold fall days and the sallow skin that comes with them. The color of Chamade 164 is a warm reddish pink and it could have been be a bit too bright if it weren't for the sheerness that lets just enough of my natural dark lip color to show and balance the warmth of this shade. The result is a strong and feminine look, just bold enough to make a statement but very appropriate for daytime.

The formula of Guerlain Rouge Automatique lipsticks has been praised here and elsewhere. It's moisturizing, smooth, rich in both pigment and hydrating ingredients and it lasts beautifully. The packaging is wonderful- elegant and practical. It's all good, which is why I keep adding more shades of Gueralin Rouge Automatique lipsticks to my collection.

Bottom Line: What's not to love?

Guerlain Rouge Automatique Lipstick ($35) can be found at most department stores, free-standing Guerlain boutiques (if your country is lucky enough to have them) and at Sephora. Duty free shops at some airports offer packages of three Rouge Automatique lipsticks, usually at a good price. I got mine at Charles de Gaulle in Paris.

  1. I hadn't noticed it before you pointed it out, but it is a brilliant face-brightener that perks up sallowness. I love this lipstick, too. I was dubious when I heard they'd be releasing lipsticks named after perfumes, but considering how lovely the Rouge Automatiques are, it turns out to be a nice tough.

  3. To celebrate my passing of a compentency test at work 2 weeks ago, I bought myself Guerlain Rouge Automatique lipstick 168. I looove it. I am not a neutral lipstick gal, my face just look too washed out. I love my 168, now I have to go back and check out 164. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Excellent review and gorgesous pictures, which really capture the interesting red-pink-coral of this lipstick. I just noticed the link back, thanks so much.

I agree this color is very face brightening. I am sure that Dain recommended it, and I should hire her as my personal makeup artist because she's been right about everything she's suggested.
