Chanel Destinee (41) Rouge Coco Lipstick Spring 2012

The rosy limited edition Destinée (41) Rouge Coco was the one lipstick I selected from Chanel's Spring 2012 Harmonie de Printemps collection. It's an obvious pick for me: a natural looking, dark enough and very wearable. Destinée is not another red or another plum; looking through my other Chanel Rouge Coco lipsticks, I don't have anything similar (I was asked about a comparison to Etole, but I don't have that one, so other than a vague idea that Destinee is not as obviously pink, I can't comment further).

Destinée seems to be a little more sheer than most other Rouge Coco lipsticks, but might also have something to do with the color itself. It's less intense than the others I have (see it compared to Talisman, an everyday red and Legende, a rosier version on the same idea). Next to Legende, Destinée looks more muted and a bit mauve. On pigmented lips the differences are a little more subtle.

Formula-wise, I find that Destinee has a little more slip than some other colors in the line (it was quite obvious when compared with Talisman). Its finish is somewhere between satin and velvet, less glossy than Legende. The usual scent of Chanel lipsticks is there and goes away in the first 30 seconds of wearing it.

Bottom Line: a great one.

Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Destinee 41 ($32)  is a limited edition for spring 2012. It's currently available from chanel.com and has been steadily arriving at the counters.

  1. This looks lovely - just went to Chanel.com and ordered it - along with the discontinued Insolente lipstick.

Reading these blogs is bad for my wallet!

  2. Right. It is now at our counters. I liked the lip liner pencil Bois de Rose, as well. I tried it out and it is wonderful on fair skin.

  3. Very nice! I saw this at the nordstrom counter but decided not to get it since I bought one of the glosses from this collection. But your review is making me reconsider.

    Thanks for the swatches!

  4. I picked up this one too as it's right up my color alley. I think it's a bit more of a cooler berry than Etole (which also has very fine shimmer in it). I'm happy having both. :)

  5. Such a pretty berry color. I might have to check this one out again.

I wanted to love the quad but...there was just one color that ruined it for me. Sigh! I love the peach in it, though.

  6. I just purcahsed this :) I do have Etole and after testing Chanel's Rouge Allure Velvet La Caline, I'd say it is a very close match for it. :)
