Spotlight on a V/Blogger: Siobhán from LetzMakeup

Siobhán McDonnell from LetzMakeup (and the corresponding YouTube channel) could not be more different in coloring, age, and personal style from me. Yet, I was instantly intrigued when I stumbled upon her videos while searching for something utterly unrelated. Her Irish accent and obvious talent were more than enough to make me a fan, even if most of her looks are not something I can pull off in this life.

Siobhán is a working makeup artist in Galway, Ireland. Her technique is probably the reason I kept coming back for more. I don't have an ounce of punk rock in my body, nor anything even remotely edgy, but I've found myself learning and adjusting some of what I see on LetzMakeup for my own needs. Sometimes I take a look or a tutorial by Siobhan and play at changing the color family to something in my comfort zone. Also recreating an entire video with one of my favorite brands-- LMdB or YSL for the more colorful looks, or lately I'm loving using Burberry for this inspiring simple 5 Minutes everyday makeup (extra nice on atrociously early mornings):

  1. I think she's great and I'm completely jealous of her eyes! I wish I were as talented with an eyeliner brush.

  2. Wow- I guess there is such a thing as Irish Eyes, since she has the same color as me and my mother..

  3. I'm one-quarter Irish and REALLY wish I'd gotten the eyes! In addition to Siobhan's talent as a make-up artist (and she really brings out the art in this), I like how the videos are put together, the timing and the music. I watched the two you selected and will watch more of them just for fun, as well as for the tips. ~~nozknoz
