Desert Essence- Coconut Conditioner For Dry Hair

I had an hair emergency last spring when the husband and I were away in Newport, RI for a mini vacation. The first night there I discovered that my tube of L'Occitane Shea Butter Conditioner was nearly empty. It didn't hold enough product for even one good hair washing. Obviously I wasn't happy with the way my hair looked and felt the next day, so I stopped at a local Whole Foodish looking grocery store to see what they had to offer. I picked Desert Essence- Coconut Conditioner For Dry Hair.

The ingredient list looked decent and I do love my coconut:
Water, Olea Europaea (Olive) Leaf Extract, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Leaf Extract, Chamomila Recuita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Coco Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Prunus Amygdalus Dulics (Sweet Almond) Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Coconut), Dehydroacetic Acid, Cetrimonium Chloride, Benzyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid, Fragrance.
This Desert Essence conditioner is definitely a great performer. My hair felt restored and nourished as promised.  The dryness disappeared and replaced with soft shiny hair. I adore the balance between obvious moisturizing and bouncy hair with no sign of limpness. The coconut fragrance is very strong, though, and it lingers in the hair, so you must really enjoy this scent if you're to use this conditioner.

Bottom Line: a winner.

Desert Essence- Coconut Conditioner For Dry Hair ($8.99, 8oz) is available from drugstore.com.

  1. Wow, this sounds awesome! And a great review for me, since I am currently looking for some great hair products, I have been neglecting my hair for way too long now, and do not seem to find anything really good. So I think I might need to give this one a try!
