NARS Mad Mad World Eye Shadow Duo Spring 2013

NARS Mad Mad World Eye Shadow Duo for Spring 2013 will bring back the joy of of makeup to even the most jaded and tired among us. The bright and bold blue and green parrot colors are cheerful and inviting to dip your brushes in their smooth pans and play. The texture of Mad Mad World is similar to NARS Persia-- a smooth and color-saturated matte. It creates a pretty striking effect on skin, so unless you're going for the full 80s effect or using these colors as liners (see model Stella Tennant in NARS campaign photo), there'll be some major blending involved. I swatched the eye shadows with my Shu Uemura 10N brush and it packed the colors nicely. You'll need a much fluffier tool to diffuse it for an everyday look. I'd also recommend taking off some of the product on the back of your hand and adding more if necessary-- it's that bright.

Used over a good and slightly tacky primer, Mad Mad world stays in place and doesn't lose potency for the entire day. The eye shadows don't transfer or move even if you accidentally rub your eyes, which is a good thing considering just how blue and green they are. I have to say that I think of them more as summer shades-- the tropical island vibe, perfect turquoise water, exotic birds, endless days on the beach (can you tell that I'm dreaming?), but who cares? This is so much fun I feel like my four year old niece in front of new craft supplies and crayons.

Bottom Line: we live in a beautiful world.

NARS Mad Mad World Eye Shadow Duo for Spring 2013 ($34) is available on narscosmetics.com (and soon at the counters). The product for this review was sent by NARS PR.
