NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF30/PA+++ (St. Moritz)

Here's another reason to appreciate NARS: while far too many brands have hopped on the BB cream trend naming and renaming standard formulas as the new miracle product, NARS tells us exactly what we're getting in one of their newer base products: a tinted moisturizer with an SPF and a hint of mineral-based light reflecting diffusing.

NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF30/PA+++  is a light and semi-sheer base product that evens out the skin more than covers it (really, it's as minimal coverage as it gets). The "radiant" part in "Pure Radiant" provides light luminosity rather than a straight up dewy/glowy appearance, so the finish is very natural. It doesn't look like makeup even when one makes sure to apply a full and even coat to make sure the SPF actually counts.

NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF30/PA+++ is excellent for good skin days (I just add a dab of concealer when and where I have something to cover). I sometimes skip a primer if I'm wearing it for a relatively short outing. On its own (with a setting/finishing powder, though) I find that this NARS product maintains its look and finish for 4-6 hours (depending on the environment). A  primer extends its life to about 8-9 hours (remember: my skin is dry), though you'll need to experiment as thicker silicone primers tend to ball and solidify under the tinted moisturize (mineral primers such as Laura Mercier's are better).

Let's talk color. NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF30/PA+++ comes in 9 shades, which is reasonable for a tinted moisturizer but not ideal. Still, due to the sheer and light texture it's a very forgiving formula that works with the skin and doesn't sit on on of it. I was matched with St. Moritz, a shade of medium depth with neutral-yellow undertones. I was concerned at first that it'd be too yellow (see swatch) but it turned out a very good match.

Bottom Line: a new favorite.

NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF30/PA+++ ($42) is available at the counters, Sephora and from narscosmetics.com.

  1. I have that exact same shade! This is funny coincidence, because I wrote a review on this last Monday. It really is a great product, I have oily skin and set it with powder but still looks great. We have very similar coloring, I guess that's why I love so many products you mention (that and your impeccable taste, of course)!

  2. This looks interesting. How does the luminosity compare to Laura Mercier's illuminating tinted moisturizer? That is currently getting a lot of use in the rotation. Happy anniversary Gaia!
