Tatcha Indigo Soothing Silk Body Butter

My daily (and nightly) body lotion is the decidedly unglamorous Amlactin (Alpha Hydroxy Therapy in the bottle with the green pump). It has done wonders for my formerly scaly skin over the last year or so. But not molting on a daily basis is not always enough, especially in the dead of winter. So I've been adding and trying various creams, old and new, for the sake of extra hydration and nourishment. Tatcha Indigo Soothing Silk Body Butter is my latest discovery, and it's proven itself through thick, thin, and itchy.

This lightly scented body butter (a soapy lemon fragrance that thankfully doesn't linger much since I don't like it at all) is, indeed, as soothing as Tatcha promises. It comes ina  tub and it's a lovely shade of blue. The product is gentle, not sticky at all, and feels lighter than the average body butter (it's based on olive squalene rather than on shea, and the texture is more cream than butter). You can get dressed immediately following a good slathering (this is an advantage over the Amlactin that takes a couple of minutes to sink in). Tatcha Indigo Soothing Silk Body Butter seems to improve the skin on my limbs over time and frequent use, and it has helped with the occasional winter irritation.

Bottom Line: I'm going to need a bigger tub.

  1. I have this as well as their hand cream and find both disappointing. Neither really hydrates to the degree I need in the winter. I'll hold onto them until the weather warms up, but I won't purchase again.

  2. I adore Tatcha's indigo body butter and always have a tube of the hand cream within easy reach. Both products work to keep my dry, mature skin feeling super soft and velvety smooth and they quickly dispatch any redness that might crop up when the weather is extreme. As for Tatcha's trademark refreshing spa-like scent, I wish Tatcha would come up with a bath product utilizing it. I find it so relaxing. For my particular skin care needs, Tatcha is superlative but, like finding the right perfume, finding the right skin care is a matter of trial and error.

  3. I don't have this, but like Roseanne, I am disappointed with the hand cream. I've read many rave reviews, but it doesn't seem to provide the moisture I need. On the other hand, I love all of the other Tatcha products I have purchased!

  4. It really proves that we have to find those products that are most tailored to our skin. I do have the hand cream and it's worked wonders on my winter damaged hands - dry, cracked with redness and painful. None of my other creams have been able to do that so I'm happy with it. For my body, strangely enough, better than body creams, what works is the Eau Thermale by Avene. Like Eileen said, trial and error seems to be the only way to find what you need.
