Memorial Day: Navy Air Evacuation Nurses of World War II

NavyHistory.org published this little-known story about the Navy Air Evacuation Nurses of World War II who had an important part in the battle of Iwo Jima. It's worth remembering, today and always.

ENS Jane Kendeigh was the first Navy flight nurse on Iwo Jima (6 March 1945) and later Okinawa (6 April 1945).
