Lancôme Drama Liqui-Pencil Eyeliner- Noir Intense, Minuit, Pluie

This one is long overdue, since I've had these three Lancôme Drama Liqui-Pencil Eyeliners since before the Holidays. I think I've shown them in a couple of FOTDs, but they deserve their own feature, because they're simply made of awesome.

These Lancôme pencils are still exclusive to Sephora, which I'm not sure does them the best service promotion-wise (not to mention the grimy testers I've encountered a couple of times). Still, I have every intention to add a few more colors to my collection, because a true gel formula in pencil form that glides on like a cat's tail and sets within less than ten seconds, not budging through thick or thin--- nothing beats that.

I started with three obvious color choices:
Noir Intense- pitch black.
Minuit- matte navy
Pluie- a warm animalic gray

The colors are intense and require no pressure or repeating the lines. What you see is what you get, and then some. I don't spend 24 hours in my makeup, ever, but the way these Lancôme liners insist on clinging to one's waterline might make them a 24 hour thing if you don't take the time and the right cleanser (dual-phase, oil, or a longer soaking with micellar water) to remove them. Which brings us to the lovely fact that Lancôme Drama Liqui-Pencils do equally well on the inner rim as well as along the lash line. Strong color, life-resistant, ease of application--- perfection, right?

Almost. Sharpening can be an issue. The pencils have a twisty bottom that at first made me think they're self-sharpening, but they aren't. The casing is also made of a plastic material that doesn't agree with all sharpeners (and vice-versa). Since the gel within is very soft, you need to use a very light touch shoving and twisting, and try to find a sharpener in your collection that doesn't remove too much material. Urban Decay Grindhouse, for example, was a big fail for me and made me fear I've ruined Noir Intense. Laura Mercier, Dior, and NARS were much better. Still, trying to sharpen to a very fine point will result in breakage, so you're better off doing about half a twist at first and keeping the tip slightly blunt. If you want to use Lancôme Drama Liqui-Pencils to create a very sharp and thin line, or a graphic look, the best way is to pick the color off the pencil (or the back of your hand) with a fine, dense angled brush. It works like a charm.

Bottom Line: why, yes, I do need the one in parrot green.

Lancôme Drama Liqui-Pencil Eyeliner in Noir Intense, Minuit, Pluie, and thirteen more colors ($23 each, made in Germany) are a Sephora exclusive, in store and online.

    1. I'm guessing they'll appear at the counters at some point. It's also a good idea to ask someone who travels to check at the duty free store.

  2. I was totally surprised when I tried out Noir Intense when these popped up at Sephora. I could not get it off once it dried down and it's such a rich color. Yes I bought one!

  3. Have you tried the Stila liquid liners? Do you think these Lancome liners are better? No brand ever seems to have the right shade of brown or gray for me (waaaah!). I want a medium, not dark brown. A brown that looks brown, not almost black. And a gray that never looks blue...true gray.

    1. Maybe Chanel Stylo Yeux Espresso. Works for me. Haven't tried but Clinique looks medium brown in Sable Skinny Stick

    2. I love the Stila liners, but I think this Lancome might be even better. I'd go by color. Stila has some unique ones as does Lancome.

  4. These look very nice. I always like it when companies include a sharpener in the box with their products, especially if they can be tricky to sharpen.
I sometimes wish Sephora had at least one person for each shift who would go around the store with alcohol wipes, cleaning up the displays and testers. The grubbiness of the stores has made me hesitant to shop there lately.

    1. You're right about companies that include a sharpener. I truly appreciate it when they do (and keep the sharpener to test and use with other brands).
Except a handful of Sephora locations that are truly nice I prefer to shop online. No cooties or loud music.
