FotD: A light & Bright Spring Look

Just before the freaky return of winter I managed to squeeze in a spring day and a spring makeup look. I was going for a light(ish) wash of color, and applied the lipstick as a light stain (brush and blot).

Face
Hourglass Mineral Veil primer. It's still one of the most effective face primers ever, but can be drying at times. I only use it on humid days.
Diorskin Forever foundation. I'm wearing 022 Cameo, which is completely inexplicable as this color is supposed to be on the pinkish side. However, when I bough the foundation (ages ago, around the time it was released), I had to exchange 030 Medium Beige for this one. 030 looked dark yellow orange on my skin, while 022 is a great match. My skin tone never ceases to surprise me (and makeup SAs all over the globe).
Dermablend Smooth Indulgence Concealer in sand. I think this one might be discontinued, which is a shame.
Meteorite Voyage Mythic 01 finishing powder.

Eyes
The last of the Urban Decay Sin primer. Still don't like it. Will not try again.
Shu Uemura ME  Medium Brown 856 on the lid.
Milani Bella Gray 10 eye shadow from the crease outwards.
Smashbox Limitless Liquid Liner pen. Still one of the very best on the market and puts many of the more prestigious options to shame.
Stretchex Stretch Lash Effect Mascara. I like the curved brush, but the formula is nothing special.

Brows
Anastasia Brow Wiz in Brunette. I just purchased a new Brow Wiz in Medium Brown. Still trying to decide which color is a better fit.

Cheeks
Kjaer Weis Above & Beyond Cream Blush.

Lips
Chanel Rouge Coco Stylo 206 Histoire. I use these lipsticks sparingly, making sure to apply a salycilic acid product or something anti-inflammatory to the skin around the lips because of the coconut oil they contain. It usually works, but I'm starting to think that it's not worth the hassle.

Other Stuff
Top by Eight Sixty.
SotD L'Artisan Premier Figuier Extreme.

  1. Given all the other options, perhaps you're right that it's not worth the hassle for you to try to find a way to wear Histoire. And yet...it looks very beautiful here. Lovely, luminous spring FOTD.

    1. Thank you :) and yes, every time I decide to give up on the lipsticks I look at them and they're just so pretty.

    1. It's a great foundation. Probably in my current top five. Which reminds me to write a foundation roundup post.

  3. Just seeing your bright & light look this morning. I love the way your foundation looks. Foundation is the one item in my routine upon which I never can decide. I use Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder usually, and sometimes Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish which I've used for 45+- years. The liquids always look blotchy on me even with primer. I have pretty heavy "peach fuzz" (embarrassing!) on my cheeks and it disturbs liquid foundations. Recently I bought a Tweezerman Easy Finish Facial Hair Remover using the coil method. I guess it works OK, but I'm still perfecting my technique. Any Suggestions ??? THANKS for another lovely FoTD.

  5. After using up two Anastasia Brow Wiz pencils in Brunette, I'm now trying out the Medium Brown. So far I am liking it.
