My Travel Baggie- 2014 Edition

Some people have made it into an art form. Amy from Cafe Makeup has streamlined her travel baggie to the barest essentials. I can only admire the elegance, and promptly have a panic attack just thinking of it, because I can't deal. I just can't. Recently I had to pack for international travel, which means a long flight and a clear plastic baggie stuffed to its gills:

The mission is to arrive at my destination looking human and happy, and to avoid plane hair and plane face. I've always made a point to hydrate and replenish, which means applying serums and masks several times throughout the course of the eleven hour flight. You can see my baggie from a year and a half ago. It's basically the same, even if some products have changed according to which travel size and samples I have on hand.

The basic idea is simple: clean and refresh with micellar water and and some facial spray. This time both are by Caudelie because a while ago I bought a travel set and the size is right. Then treat and hydrate: ReVive serums are among the best you can find, and their sample size is perfect. I also apply an eye cream (La Roche-Posay) and seal everything with DR Jart+ Sleep Mask, which is still one of my top products (decanted into a small round jar). Extra pampering comes from By Terry Baume de Rose (sample size) and L'Occitane shea butter hand cream (travel size, I think this one was a press sample).  Before landing I refresh and apply the Sisley Express Flower Gel Mask (press samples) and hope for the best.

Makeup before landing is still simple and focused on a dewy fresh look: liquid concealer (Armani), cream eye shadow that comes with a built-in applicator(Rouge Bunny Rouge), Mascara (Lancome Hypnose Star), NARS Multiple (413 BLKR), and either a lipstick or a gloss ( a girl needs her options).

One final touch: before landing I refresh my perfume, so I already packed a purse spray of Champagne de Bois by Sonoma Scent Studio.

What's in your baggie?

  1. As long as I have my trusty Bobbi Brown corrector, toothpaste and Jack Black lipbalm I'm ok. If I have to i'll make room for my entire routine in a bag.

  3. Forgive me if this comment is coming in 2x, but I'm not sure if the first one was published!

I travel to Europe about 6 times per year & could live without my trusty bobbi brown face palette. Its tiny but holds enough pigmented cream products which leaves space for other things like some aromatherapy (love the by Nieves Cloud of Protection) and toothpaste. In it I've always got some cream concealer (usually CdP as its the only stick congealer I own), a couple of cream blushes and some rms beauty living luminizer to help me look hydrated as I land. Actually rms beauty is particularly good for travel as her products are very hydrating and pretty much fool proof to apply in a tiny airplane bathroom. (Not shilling, just speaking from experience of thinking I had applied some double wear nicely only to have a ghastly reaction upon landing in Paris… yikes!)

Next on the list is the Dr Jart's sleeping mask! Thanks for the tip
