Rouge Bunny Rouge Eye Shadow Palette Raw Garden In Chronos

And a giveaway!!!

The much-anticipated Rouge Bunny Rouge eye shadow palette is finally being released. You know that I've been sitting on this for a while but couldn't post the full details and swatches until now- the palette will be available on rougebunnyrouge.com starting August 28th, and since it's a limited edition we all know what that means. One lucky reader will not have to worry about snatching this up: we're doing a giveaway draw, so see details at the end of this post.

Rouge Bunny Rouge Eye Shadow Palette Raw Garden In Chronos offers five beautiful colors. It looks very dramatic, but as you can see from the swatches, all five are very wearable. The texture is very smooth, as you'd expect from Rouge Bunny Rouge, but it's somewhat different than the satin feel of the permanent collection. The finish is high in shimmer, yet it's very refined (I did spot a couple of shiny particles in the blue and purple shades). The color themselves change a bit with the light, especially said blue and purple. Sometimes they appear more muted, but a strong light brings the unique pigment to life for a more dramatic look.

This photo and the next two show swatches done with wide lay-down brushes over primer. Only one swipe of the brush, so you can see how pigmented and intense these colors are.

These batch of swatches was done with the sponge applicators that came with the palette. The light is also different.

All the colors are new. There are similarities to existing shades, but they're not identical, so I'll post detailed comparisons later this week. For now, here are the colors in this palette:  beige champagne, a true honest-to-god taupe, golden khaki with a bit of bronze, charcoal-based purple, a blackened blue steel (that shows an almost teal cast under a certain light). Complex, obviously.

As you can see above, the palette comes with two sponge-tip applicators, but please use real brushes to get the most out of these colors. You can pat them onto the  lid with a lay-down brush, do a wash of color with an angled contour brush, blend them, smoke them out, use as a liner with a small smudge brush-- it's all good.

Now, for the giveaway:

One Rouge Bunny Rouge Eye Shadow Palette Raw Garden In Chronos will be sent to the winner. Open worldwide (!!!) to anyone over age 18 (that's the law). To participate, please tell us what's your favorite Rouge Bunny Rouge product, or: if you never had the pleasure- tell us what is your favorite makeup palette. Please make sure to leave a name and a way to reach you (email, Twitter handle, etc.). The prize will be sent by the nice people at Rouge Bunny Rouge, so by entering the draw you agree to have your details shared with them.

The product in this review was sent for my consideration by the company. I'm not affiliated with RBR and this giveaway is not monetarily sponsored in any way.

  1. My goodness, it looks beautiful! So beautiful, that I can't resist putting my name in the hat. My favourite RBR product would have to be their Solstice Halcyon eyeshadow (one of the few eyeshadows I've hit pan on). For me, it's an everyday essential.

  7. Beautiful swatches and packaging, as always! My favorite Rouge Bunny Rouge product would be a HUGE toss-up between their shadows (unique yet functional shades, buttery pigmented formula) and blush in Habanera. Habanera is THE perfect tawny, peachy shade the has a non-shimmery, non-matte beautiful sheen. I've used this on myself (super warm, yellow NC35) and cooler-toned pale friends and it's neutral enough for everyone.

  10. OOOh, this looks so pretty! I love complex but wearble eyshadows. My current favorite eyeshadow palette is Lancome's Beige Brulee. I can't find RBR anyplace near me in the deep heart of the American South and I must swatch before I buy, so sad I don't have any RBR but now maybe my luck will change...:-)

  16. Ooooh - nice! This is a beautiful palette. I have not yet had the pleasure to use a RBR product - but I sure would love to. My best loved eye shadow palette so far is one I mixed myself with MAC eyeshadows. You know, the usual: all neutrals, some matte, some shimmer, and so on. But a little competition never hurt, or? So maybe MAC has to move over... If I am lucky... Hopefully.... :-)

  102. I've never tried any Rouge Bunny product since I'm a man but my interest in perfume and makeup is pretty big, I'll say that my favorite palette is the Edward Bess Back to Basics!
    Thank you for the draw

  104. Hi and thanks for the review and giveaway ;-)
My favourite RBR product is probably the highlighter Seas of Illumination in the golden colour Sea of Showers... It's a very flattering highlighter used alone or mixed with foundation, and it even smells divine! But I also love the gorgeous blue Mysterious tinamou e/s.

  108. I never had the pleasure to try RBR but I surely would love to. My favorite palette has to be the ombres perlees de Chanel just because I finished the purple color, I still think is the most beautiful eyeshadow ever.

  110. I've never had the pleasure of using RBR. My favorite palette currently is the spring Chantecaille palette, however I rarely get to use it. I just had twins 8 months ago, so my makeup routine is not nearly as glamorous as it used to be.
Thanks for sharing this palette with us! anky4242@gmail.com

  112. I've never tried anything by RBR co. But my favorite palette I've used is the Mary Kay Velocity Heartthrob (discontinued limited edition) which has four shimmer colors in peach, chocolate, raisin, and navy. I love the look of the shades of this palette though , especially the khaki. Bookwyrmsmith@ live .com

  115. Sadly, I've not yet had an opportunity to try any RBR products.

My favorite palette is probably a little staid, but it has served me well over the years and remains the only palette I've repurchased: Chanel Dunes fits the bill for an understated work-appropriate look time and time again.

My favorite palette... that's a really hard question as I like to use a ton of palettes... lately I've been using a lot the Benefit The Rich is Back palette and also the Too Faced Bonbons palette!

  122. Thanks for the contest! I have a pretty healthy RBR collection so far, but look forward to adding the palette. As far as my favourite product, I think I have to go with this year's "Rain Dove" which is possibly the most versatile, beautiful shadow I own. Periwinkle Cardinal shadow runs a close second, though.

  124. Wow, this looks like such a beautiful palette! :-) I definitely have far more single shadows than palettes, but one palette that I have I was actually given, and even though I received it quite a while ago it has such lovely neutral colors that I continue to get good use out of it. :-) It's an Elizabeth Arden palette called Neutral Cashmeres, and I think my favorite color in it is the lovely taupe (the taupe-ish color in this RBR palette looks amazing!). :-) I'm keeping my fingers crossed, I've read such wonderful things about RBR and would love to win! Thanks for having this giveaway! You can reach me at missbonniebelle (at) gmail (dot) com :-)
