What's On My Nails These Days?

My nails are not always a mess. Here are the colors I've been wearing on good nail days in recent weeks:

  • Butter London- The Old Bill. A light copper with a metallic finish. The color changes with the light and can appear almost like an antique gold. It has an American Hustle vibe. ($7.50, butterlondon.com, Ulta, and Nordstrom).
  • Essie- Sand Tropez. A sophisticated nude beige kind of thing, something Essie does exceptionally well. Two coats are enough, a rarity for this type of barely there colors. ($8.50 at Ulta).
  • Sheswai- What. A slightly grayed deep purple, and one of the best nail polish formulas I've experienced in a long time. One coat and you're golden (or purple, in this case). ($16 at Beautyhabit and Twisted Lily. Press sample).
  • Dior- Rouge 999. This was not just an impulse buy, but an accidental one as well. I was at Sephora before the holidays to pick up a gift. My brother-in-law was with me and his tolerance for beauty shopping is non existent. I meant to get a Dior lipstick but grabbed the polish instead. Nevermind. This classic red is Old Hollywood in the best possible way, even if the stumpy brush gets on my nerves occasionally. ($24, at the counters and from Sephora).

  1. That Butter London is gorgeous. I've been wearing Zoya London on my nails; after swearing I wouldn't try a textured polish, I picked this one from their Pixie Dust range. It's a light gray with subtle sparkle and I love that no base or top coat is needed - just two coats and you're done. Nice for winter.

    1. I know what you mean, Rosarita. Any polish that doesn't require seven coats and immobilizes me for an hour while it dries is a winner.

  2. I love holographics from indie brands right now, such as Colors by Llarowe Unorthodox Annie (reddish brown plum) and Elevation Polish Darkest Storm (dark blue). I also love the unusual color combinations and complex shimmers from Rescue Beauty Lounge. Jin Soon colors have my favorite formula. Since you have brittle nails, you could try their base coat.

    1. Jin Soon has been on my "must try" list for a long time now. I'll have to do something about it.
