Guerlain KissKiss Holiday Look Trio

Guerlain KissKiss Holiday Look Trio was the only set I bought out of the many options launched by just about every major brand. It was the red that captured my heart completely (and I was on the market for a classic red nail polish), and made me break my vow not to add another red lipstick to my collection. That, by the way, was the beginning of a slippery slope, as you will see tomorrow.

But back to this Guerlain set. The KissKiss Holiday Look Trio offers the classic holiday elegance: red lips and nails, and subtly defined eyes. Included are two full size products: KissKiss lipstick in 325 Rouge Kiss and La Laque Couleur nail polish in Rouge d'Enfer, as well as a mini Maxi Lash mascara in black. The latter is the least exciting part of the set, as Maxi Lash is a decent enough mascara with no frills or gimmicks, but it doesn't give impressive results. I feel that an eyeliner would have been a better choice.

Guerlain KissKiss lipstick in its current incarnation is a very creamy product with good slip and an decent longevity (it does transfer to cups and pets). The lipstick is scented and feels very "makeupy", which I actually like. The color of Rouge Kiss 325 is a true red that even on my dark lips barely pulls pink. It's bold, bright, and has a shiny finish that brightens the face.

The big winner of the KissKiss trio is the nail polish, La Laque Couleur in Rouge d'Enfer. The color is a good match to the lipstick, obviously. But it's the lovely formula and the excellent wide brush that make it a favorite and remind me why Guerlain is still a favorite brand. The polish has a cream finish with considerable shine. It dries quickly, lasts reasonably well, and application is incredibly easy thanks to the extra wide brush that allows for minimal brush strokes (hence no streaks). Two quick coats, a couple of minutes for drying, and you're all set.

Bottom Line: fabulous.

Guerlain KissKiss Holiday Look Trio ($58) is available at the counters, Sephora (the mascara in the Sephora set is violet, not black), and online.
