Currently- May 2014

Book
Nate In Venice by Richard Russo. An emotionally fragile American professor tries to navigate the Venice canals, his relationship with his brother, and the rest of his life.

Music
Turn Blue, the new album from The Black Keys

TV
Game Of Thrones. I don't know if this season is as good as I hoped it would be, but we still have Peter Dinklage.

Perfume
I'm on a serious Parfumerie Generale kicks. Aomassai, Coze, everything.

Makeup
Those new Dior Fluid Sticks. I think I want a couple more.

Frequently Worn Item/Outfit
Printed DVF wrap shirts over a long black camisole, skinny jeans, ballet flats.

Food
Gluten-free crackers with peanut butter.

Guilty Pleasure
Preferring ebooks to the real thing. I love books, truly, but being able to buy and download in one click and read it right away while still being connected to everything and seeing important alerts-- that's priceless.

Bane
Too much time at the vet. Miss Pippa gave us a scare that turned out to be absolutely nothing. Cats are weird.

Joy
Healthy cats, a weekend getaway.

Anticipation
Friends visiting.

Wishlist
New additions to my vintage jewelry collection.

Random Thought
That 700K ring Amal Alamuddin is sporting? I expected better from George.

Art by Naomi Wilkinson.

  3. Book: Elizabeth George's "Just One Evil Act", her latest Inspector Lynley, but mostly I'm reading vintage Vogue and Bazaar magazines from the 60s and late 50s which I've suddenly started collecting (and just ordered several French Elles from that period, despite a sad lack of ability to read French with any ease). Need to put the brakes on this - am practically in binge collecting mode, but they are such incredible, beautifully put together magazines. I know the reality of those times is certainly not something I'd want, but I really appreciate the aesthetics.

TV: Love the Death in Paradise series and was not at all happy when in the first episode of the new season the chief detective was killed off - didn't know if it could continue successfully, but it has - it's as enjoyable as ever.

Bane: Have also had too much vet time. We spent my birthday night at our emergency vet hospital with one of our beloved children who has a history of issues. The only birthday wish I cared about was granted when they told us she would be OK. However, one of the feral cats I try to take care of is in awful shape and my heart is shattered over this.

Joy: Summer. The scent of viburnum, honeysuckle and wild roses filling our back yard. And sitting outside next to huge pots of multiple varieties of mint and quietly watching the families of deer that come to visit every day.

Perfume: A variety of scents, both modern and vintage that I think match the mood and clothes of those vintage magazines I'm reading so obsessively. Today it's Le Labo Lys 41and yesterday it was Je Reviens Couture and Lelong N.

Food: Roasted peaches. I think I have a roasted/grilled vegetables and fruit addiction.

Wishlist: The Lilly Dache hat on the cover of the Feb. '60 Vogue and the Halston hat on the cover of the June '64 Vogue. Neither of them are me at all and can't even imagine wearing them, but they make me happy just to look at them - pieces of art work.

  4. Book
I just finished Erik Larson's "The Devil in the White City" last night - and now I'm pining for Chicago terribly - and started Alissa Nutting's "Tampa" this morning, the plot of which is not blog-appropriate =)

    Music
The Ambrosia station on Pandora. Lots of terrible, wonderful 80s soft rock!

    TV
    What is TV?

    Perfume
Everything is 777 Khol de Bahrein right now.

    Makeup
I need to try those Dior Fluid Sticks still. Otherwise, my NARS Copacabana Illuminator has been getting a lot of love lately.

    Frequently Worn Item/Outfit
I am hating clothing right now.

    Food
I should really stop eating but...I had Carnegie Deli last night.

    Guilty Pleasure
    Craft beers.

    Bane
Lease renewal time...and I have to see if I can have my ex taken off of it. Sigh.

    Joy
    Loving my job, Spring weather.

    Anticipation
My birthday is in exactly one month and I'll be on vacation!! =D

    Wishlist
HA, I can't even start to list. Jardin d'Ecrivans Junky, NARS 411 Blkr Illuminator, some more Marc Jacobs Beauty stuff.

    Random Thought
    I'm bloated.
