Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour- Blaze

While there are two new re-promoted shades, Praline and Oleander, in Laura Mercier Arabesque Collection for spring 2013 (you can see them swatched and applied on Karen from Makeup & Beauty Blog), I passed on them and decided to pick an older shade, Blaze. It's actually my first Laura Mercier cream blush (I've always liked her powder ones) and I have to say I'm enamored with the texture. It almost feels like gel, but without the wet/sticky part that often comes with it, and while the pigment is semi-sheer it's also very buildable (my swatch features two coats lightly blended).

I see no difference in the lasting time of Laura Mercier's blush formulas. This Crème Cheek Colour stayed put until I removed my makeup at night (over a carefully applied base of moisturized skin+sunscreen+primer+foundation). It can be topped with a powder blush for extra zest or lightly powdered, but I prefer to keep the semi-dewy finish of Laura Mercier's blush.

Blaze is a fabulous warm rose that I find very easy to wear. I use far less on my face than I applied for swatching, mostly because my skin is a lifeless pale olive and overdoing my blush looks like have a dangerous fever and need to be quarantined immediately. Still, Blaze is very flattering and looks to be on the natural side.

Bottom Line: Great.

Laura Mercier  Crème Cheek Colour ($24) is available at the counters and online from lauramercier.com.

  1. I've had Praline and Oleander for a few years now. I wonder if LM is just re-releasing them for this collection? I love Oleander. It's such a pretty pinky pink. It kind of has the same effect as NARS Pennylane, but with a hint of bubblegum :-)

    1. Thanks, Trish. I'll add this info in a second. Apparently they really are repromotes. The entire cream blush range was very low profile until now so it makes sense; these two go well with the pastel theme of the new collection

    2. Sure thing. I hope the cream blushes get more attention, they are really lovely.
