Currently- March 2013

I nearly skipped posting a "Currently" this month because I haven't been in the mood to talk about anything personal. My cat Gracie is very sick and will not get better, so the stress from that has been tainting everything else. But there's also a lot to enjoy and remember, so here are my currents and they're not all about doom and gloom.

Just finished one cute novel by Australian author Liane Moriarty and started another. Yes, it's basically chic lit (I despise this term), but well written and the Australian setting is different and interesting. I'd like to visit Down Under one day.

The soundtrack to just about any Woody Allen movie. The opening notes of most of them put me in a good mood instantly.

Hokkabaz by Esscentual Alchemy. It's a gorgeous one, inspired by Guerlain Djedi.

The brand new blush, Secret Affair, from Edward Bess is definitely a winner.

Frequently Worn Item or Outfit
Flats. I love my 4" shoes and sandals, but I love not having achy feet even more.

Tomato salad. Fresh cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, olive oil. Everything else is optional.

Guilty Pleasure
Ice cream, still.

Let's not talk about it.

I have some wonderful wonderful friends. And I met them through blogging.

A blog makeover. Stay tuned.

Hermes Brazil II scarf.

Random Thought
Between Tim Gunn and Lord Grantham, the world "flabbergasted" is now everywhere. Even on The Carrie Diaries, where it sounded all wrong. I'm pretty sure high school kids didn't say that in the 80s.

How are you? What's on your list of loves and banes? Any wishes and recommendations?

  1. sorry about Gracie, Gaia. I know your heart is breaking.

  2. I am very sorry to hear about Gracie. December is still fresh in my mind when we had to say goodbye to my little dog.
But you are right, there is much joy to remember in life.

Of my currently list, I'm again enjoying the Vald Taltos adventures (by S. Brust), it being Easter time, my bane is all the calories I am taking in with food and alcohol.
Which I'm hoping will be offset by the thing I am very much anticipating - the Vienna half-marathon in 2 weeks. :)

Blogging friends are one of the joys I never expected when I started blogging and one I cherish even more for it.

I'm putting that Hermes scarf on my wishlist too. Where it will stay forever. :)

  3. My best wishes and thoughts to you and Gracie, Gaia. xoxoA

  4. hang in there, Gaia, I know what you're going through-we think of you and love you and wish all the best possible to you and your loved ones

  5. I am so, so sorry about Gracie. I am completely empathetic as I am sure any cat lover is. Just be with her and love her. I hope that this is not physically painful for her.

  6. I'm so sorry to hear about Gracie. My prayers are with your little love. "All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all."

  7. I'm very sorry to hear about Gracie. I went through that two years ago with my dear Mr. Moose. Holding a thought for you both.

  8. I'm so, so sorry about your kitty. My thoughts are with you and your tiny sweetheart.

  9. I am so sorry about your cat Gracie, having a sick fur baby is so hard. I wish you and yours peace and comfort.

Book-I’m finishing up Salt, A World History. Next on the list is George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones Series.

Music-Anything happy and bouncy, preferably from the 80’s.

Perfume-Copious amounts of Shiseido’s Feminite du Bois Extrait. I’m craving it. My black cat SmokeyToes thinks it's edible. He purrs and drools when he smells it.

Makeup-I’m looking for a brand new blush, something that is brighter and brings life to my face. Yes, I’ve got the winter blues.

Frequently Worn Item or Outfit-My cashmere sweats, I’ve been under the weather and these give me comfort and warmth.

    Food-Anything Persian.

Guilty Pleasure-Home made gluten-free chocolate chip walnut scones. What I really want is fine French pastry, but nothing gluten-free can ever taste that good.

    Bane-Toxic co-workers.

Joy-Meeting up with friends and hearing what’s new.

    Anticipation-Hiring a new assistant.

    Wishlist-Better health and more energy.

  10. I hope Gracie gets better, lots of love.

  11. Gaia,
    I am sorry about Gracie.
My prayers are with you and your loved ones.

  12. I'm so sorry to hear about Gracie!!! What's wrong with her?

  13. just now seeing this. blessings to you and gracie.

remember, we do not die, it's just our spacesuits that eventually give out. the divine energy that are you and gracie will meet again on another adventure. that's why you're so close in this one. you adventure together here and in other times and "realities."

i know it will still suck to say goodbye, because i've been through it, and will have to go through it again with my boys, but it is all all right, all is well, all is well, and all manner of thing shall be well. (last part - hildegard de bingen).

    cheers and love,

  14. Sorry about the kitty! Your blog has brought a smile to my face during similar stressful times. So thank YOU for that.
