Laura Mercier Bleu Marine Tightline Cake Eye Liner

Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eye Liner has become if not a staple than a well-loved and frequently used item in my makeup arsenal. I already reviewed the ones in Black Ebony and Charcoal Grey, so I won't repeat my observations about them. Today we're looking at Bleu Marine, which is a great color that shares all the wonders of the other two, but I wish it was much more blue. As you can see, this is more of a blackened navy  than a rich marine color. Not that there's anything wrong with it, and as a matter of fact, Laura Mercier's approach to color is brilliant, wearable and practical. It's just that I like my blue to be a tad bluer.

The swatch was made the way I use Laura Mercier's cake liners-- mixed with Paula Dorf's Transformer. Laura Mercier also sells an activating liquid but I never tried it. Some people still use the eyeliner with water, despite the change in formula. I find that I like the extra sturdiness the Transformer gives.

Bottom Line: nice to have.

Laura Mercier Bleu Marine Tightline Cake Eye Liner ($22) is available at the counters and from lauramercier.com
