The new Christian Dior counter at Bergdorf Goodman is now officially open (as of Thursday, actually), and it's a Parisian dream. The "counter" is actually a mini boutique (similar to the Guerlain alcove only bigger). They have a sniffing area for the Collection Privee , a sitting area for long-suffering husbands and a works station island for their team of expertly-trained makeup artists who know their Dior inside and out. The entire Christian Dior beauty range is there (except for the classic fragrance collection that is still exclusive to Saks-- Diorissimo, Diorella, Miss Dior Classic, Dioressence) and you can get skincare advice. A spa room is currently under construction and will open soon.
I got an excellent makeover including a mini facial from Dior specialist Jose Freeman. He used a mix of items- some I already have and some new to me, focusing on fall 2012 khaki look for eyes (photo below. Excuse the questionable lighting. By the time we got home it was already dark and I had little patience for messing with extra lights and camera settings). Jose showed me ways to apply these muted shades in an eye-brightening way. Good makeovers are rare. Wonderful and inspiring ones are a true unicorn; If you're within a visit distance from Bergdorf Goodman I highly recommend giving the Dior counter a call (212-872-8980) to book some time with Jose.
