Gucci Antique Gold Magnetic Color Shadow Mono

I'm carefully dipping my toes in the vast unknown that is the new Gucci makeup line. There are so many options, colors, and items that have caught my eye that it was hard to decide where to begin. With eye shadows that come as monos, duos and quads, all in rich colors and alluring finishes. I want allthethingnow. But let's start with this beauty: Gucci Antique Gold Magnetic Color Shadow Mono.

The color: exactly what they say: an antique gold. Gorgeous.
The texture: velvety, finely-milled, dense pigment in a soft base.
The finish: high shimmer, no individual particles.

Performarnce is exactly what I'd expected from an eye shadow that comes with such a prestigious name and a very luxurious packaging. The swatch above shows one swipe (brush: Shu Uemura Natural 10) over primed skin. You can sheer it out a bit or layer for extra intensity. I find that flat and dense brushes work best for applying the color, with a blending brush to create a sophisticated look. I've also used one pat of Gucci Antique Gold on the center of the lid over a darker color to bring extra light to the eyes. The effect was beautiful.

Bottom Line: I'm compiling my next order as we speak.

Gucci Antique Gold Magnetic Color Shadow Mono ($37) is available from Saks and Neiman Marcus.

  1. Wowzah! It's like a more gold version of RBR abyssinian catbird! Love it! Do you know if the new Gucci line is CF?

  2. I am so tempted, I think I will have to try this new line although I'm not sure that this color is ideal with my skin. But hey, there are plenty more colors to choose from. :)
