Karen's MBB Monday Poll

This is stolen shamelessly from Karen of Makeup & Beauty Blog. She posts a new list every morning, which helps ease my foggy brain into a more structured thinking. These are today's questions and my answers (you're welcome to go read hers, as well as post your own answers in the comments.

1. If I ever become rich and famous I’m going to do all I can for our local animal rescue groups. Also start fundraising for restoration and revival of our town's historic district. There's an incredible amount of potential here that people tend to ignore, but I love this town and can see it become an important art deco center. Then I'll invite  George and Amal for dinner.

2. What’s a mascara you find yourself buying over and over again?
Anything Lancome. Hypnose Drama has been my go-to for years, but I think Grandiose will replace it.

3. Your biggest boy band crush (or any band, for that matter) growing up?
Simon Le Bon and John Taylor of Duran Duran. Also George Michael.

4. Ponchos: yes or no?
Love the look, but at not even 5'3" and being top-heavy, they make me look like a boob mushroom.

5. Is your daytime makeup routine very different from your going out/evening makeup routine?
Not really. All the basics are the same, and I tend to test and experiment all day long. But come a nighttime date I simply add a scary amount of eyeliner. It does the trick.

  1. Karen's a hoot! I love her "Le List" Monday poll and I enjoy reading her readers' responses. I like your "Currently" poll, too. I wish more readers would respond, though.

  3. This cracked me up so I'll share mine:

If I ever became rich, I'd create a wellness center for cancer patients where I work. It's an underserved area and unless services (counseling, nutrition groups, fitness programs, etc.) are provided for free, people go without unfortunately. I'll pass on George and Amal, as although I am Greek, I feel the Parthenon marbles should remain in the British Museum, well cared for and on view for the world.

    2. Armani's Eyes to Kill :)

    3. Jon Bon Jovi, yes I was into hair bands but I never had that hair (my mother would have shaved it first and in any case there's no hairspray in the world that could make my hair stand out like that).

    4. Ponchos...on those lovely tall and slender models, yes. On me...oy I look like I'm wearing a big tent. I pass.

    5. No, but I'm more sparkly at night and of course more eyeliner :)

  4. 1. I couldn't agree more, if I came into money, donating to our local animal rescue groups is the first place I'd start. Next, I'd give money for Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis research.

    2. Loreal Lash Out Mascara - now sadly discontinued. That was amazing stuff, it built length without irritating or flaking. My No 2 would be Max Factor 2000 Calorie.

    3. U2 and Duran Duran.

    4. Ponchos: no, absolutely not. I'm tall and athletic, not the ideal way to create a slimming silhouette.

    5. Not too much - I do the basics, but nowadays, I also use a touch of illuminating moisturizer mixed in with my foundation for a more youthful glow. I also make sure to use a good primer. I've backed off on eye makeup as I've discovered using eye shadow ages my eyes.

  5. Oh, "boob mushroom" had me giggling. I'm a hair taller than you but I also have a top-heavy build... the phrase I always used was "candy apple on a stick."

  6. 1. If I ever become rich and famous .....
Definitely animal rescue and conservation work.

    2. What’s a mascara you find yourself buying over and over again?
    Kevyn Aucoin's The Curling

    3. Your biggest boy band crush (or any band, for that matter) growing up?
Split Enzi and then Queen. Although I don't think they were ever boy bands. AND I'm going on when I first started listening to rock music, which was basically university.

    4. Ponchos: yes or no?
No. Although I still have the red poncho my great aunt Ilma crocheted for me as a child, well over forty years ago.

    5. Is your daytime makeup routine very different from your going out/evening makeup routine?
No, both are VERY light on. Maybe more eyeliner at night? Depends how I feel.
