House of Exposure is a NYC-based online concept store offering exclusive limited edition prints and other items at reasonable prices. The focus is modern art, urban and somewhat avant-garde with a soft spot for fashion themes. A recent project of House of Exposure is collaboration with Poppy King of Lipstick Queen fame to create a limited edition red lipstick inspired by the photography of Helmut Newton. This is Helmut Red.
Helmut Red is a classic red lipstick. It has a slight blue base, intense pigment and a luxurious lightweight texture. Helmut Red is one of those lipsticks that last long and give the lips a good stain without drying. There's no goopiness and the lipstick is easy to apply. It's very low maintenance and you can get away with not using a brush, though I find the ideal application is brushing on two coats (gently blot in between) and then use the bullet just in the middle of the lips for extra sheen. The lipstick will last all through the evening with minimal transferring to your wine glass (I even tested it by kissing a cat's forehead). On my lips the color pulls a little pink (very little), but it's a full coverage and opaque formula.
Helmut Red is made in the USA, has no scent or taste, no shimmer or any particles and comes in a cute box inspired by vintage Kodak film packaging. The cap is magnetic and closes with a satisfying click.
Bottom Line: Love.
