Chantecaille Fall 2011 Calla Lily and Violetta Lip Chic

Chantecaille had their Lip Chic lipstick line long before the current trend of sheer but pigmented lip color. Ceylon and Damask have been among my staples for the last couple of years (I've already had to repurchase Damask, so that should tell you something). You can read all about the wonderful formula in the previous review, as today we're taking a look at Calla Lily and Violetta, the two Lip Chic Colors Chantecaille released for fall 2011.

The color in the tube is a bit misleading (the questionable lighting at Bergdorf made them look almost identical until I swatched). Calla Lily is a red-based pink. On the beautiful SA at Bergdorf whose lips are much paler than mine this color pulled red. On me it's more rosy, but in any case, thanks to the formula it's wonderfully flattering and works with one's natural coloring. Violetta is a red plum, a little more dramatic but very wearable for those of us who love berry colors.

Chantecaille's Lip Chic might be my favorite among the sheer lipsticks because of their above-average lasting power and the gorgeous shades.

Bottom Line: can't ask for more.

Chantecaille Fall 2011 Calla Lily and Violetta Lip Chic lipsticks ($32 each) have already arrived at most counters and also available online from chantecaille.com.

  1. Calla Lily is definitely calling to me - for the beautiful colour, and for the name (they are among my favourite flowers). I love the formula of these, so nice on dry lips.

  2. I love the look of both of these, I just wish Chantecaille was easier to get hold of in the UK.

  4. The Chantecaille Lip Chics are really phenomenal in terms of how they look and feel on the lips. Both of these look amazing.

  5. Wow, the colors in the tube really do not represent how they look on skin, do they? I'd have gone for Violetta on looks alone, but swatched, it's clear Calla Lily is the one I need this fall.

I couldn't agree more about Lip Chic, and Damask is also a favorite. I purchased Heirloom, thinking it would be a more subtle version of Damask, but the plum tones were overshadowed by brown. Have you tried Dahlia? Exquisite!
