Six Perfumes For Spring

I had the best intentions about doing something a lot more inspired as my spring perfume post. But I guess I'm not really feeling it and if I waited any longer it'll be August and we'll all be ready for fall. You can always dig in my past spring posts for more perfumes, like this one from 2010, Scents That Sing Of Spring. This is just a quick(ish. The bonus round is pretty massive) roundup of perfumes I've been wearing, craving, and thinking about in the last couple of weeks. It's subject to change and to mood; for all we know next spring I might be wearing Angel.

Something Old
Caron- Nocturne. Deserve much more love than it gets.

Something New
Tauer Perfumes- Noontide Petals.

Something Discontinued
Givenchy- Amarige Mimosa Harvest. It's yellow.

Something Masculine (ok, totally gender-free, but that's the husband's choice)
Olfactive Studio- Flash Back (review coming this week). Crisp and lighthearted.

Something Natural
April Aromatics- Liquid Dreams. A gorgeous narcissus.

Something For Beginners
L'Artisan Parfumeur- La Chasse Aux Papillons. $100 at Sephora online, and better than most of the stuff they sell.

Bonus Round
Guerlain- Chamade, Taure- Carillon Pour Un Ange, Ramon Monegal- Pure Mariposa, Annick Goutal- Grand Amour, Vintage Lauren, Tommi Sooni Jinx and Passerelle, Vintage Diorissimo, DSH Muguet, Laura Ashley- Emma, CB I Hate Perfumes Wild Pansy, A Room With A View, To See A Flower and I Am A Dandelion.

  1. I sort of miss the cozy black background (I tend to be a very nostalgic person, unfortunately), but have to admit your new design is GREAT! ~~nozknoz

  2. I need to get to sniffing these!

  3. I love green for spring, my favorites are (no particular order). Shiseido Murasaki (burgundy bottle) loads of galbanum with jasmine, gardenia, rose and hyacinth, the drydown is oak moss, leather, incense, orris root and vetiver. It's exquisite. Coriandre by Jean Couturier, crisp, bracing greens, loads of powdery iris. Niki de St Phalle, bitter and green with that wonderful marigold note. Estee by Estee Lauder-the vintage is crisp, powdery and with a touch of lilac.
Cristalle by Chanel, ext. the hyacinth is perfectly balanced by oakmoss, rosewood and vetiver...
    Your website looks wonderful Gaia!

  4. Dear Gaia, if we catch you wearing Angel someone will come and do an intervention. Your scent sensibilities are so much more refined! It sounds as if you are under the weather or concerned about something at home, I hope that you are feeling better soon. Warm wishes ...

  5. The new design is fabulous!
Like Nozknoz, I am quite a nostalgic person and, when my favorite blogs get a facelift, it takes a while for me to get used to the change, even if it's for the best!!!
I rember it took me a while to embrace your black background, last time you changed, and now here I am, missing it!!!
Nevertheless, the new logo is great, and, as I said, your new design is fab! Kudos!

  6. I think the design is fab!

  7. Nocturne has been my spring/summer perfume for years:)
    Th new design is beautiful!

  8. I always look forward to the artwork you choose to illustrate your writing. It's always lovely and spot-on. Love the new look, btw.

  9. For my "bonus round" choice, Vent Vert by Balmain!

    Full-on Spring lushness!

Lawrence in (sunny for once!) Northeastern Ohio
