Beauty Roundup For Independencel Day Weekend

Happy long weekend to those in North America. It's another royal weekend for those following the coverage of the  Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William & Kate, during their Canada trip. Tomorrow there'll also be some footage of the royal wedding in Monaco, though I admit I'm not getting up before dawn to see which channel broadcasts this one. I can wait a little to find out what Stephanie, Caroline and the beautiful Charlotte Casiraghi will wear.

I plan to catch up on some blogging. Two gorgeous Chanel collection are currently sitting on my dresser, waiting to be featured here. Stay tuned if you want to see how they work on olive skin and how I plan to wear the shocking red blush from the Byzance collection. There's also Shalimar Parfum Initial; it arrived here yesterday and I'm very impressed. I plan to keep wearing it over the weekend and hopefully have a full review written early in the week.

In the meantime, here's some more beauty and perfume goodies from my blogging friends:

Daly Beauty suggested some gorgeous green fragrances - perfect summer scents.
Fab over Forty gave us a sneak peek into the tempting Guerlain Fall 2011 Collection. Is it going to repeat last's year's success?
Café Makeup recommended Chanel's Eyeshadow Quadra Eyeshadow in Prélude for Fall 2011. I wholeheartedly agree.
Best Things in Beauty flipped over Chanel's Rigard Signé de Chanel Quadra Eye Shadow in Topkapi and Joues Contraste Or from the Byzance Collection. Can't blame her.
The Beauty Look Book delved into another Chanel exclusive:  Royallieu #58 Rouge Coco Shine - one that will coordinate perfectly with Prélude.
Product Girl spotlighted  Jouer Sheer Bronzing Tint SPF 15 and Peony Lip Gloss, they scream SUMMER.
Karla Sugar swatched Bobbi Brown's Tortoise Shell Collection for Fall 2011.
Looking to get out of a style rut? Head over to Gouldylox Reviews to see how Kelly did it.
See Kristin's summer favorites for hair, makeup, and fashion at BeautyXposé.
Finally, a woman who has been in our thoughts lately, Princess Diana - then and now - at DivaDebbi.

And more to love:
Two brilliant posts on Ars Aromatica: Dain tells us how she arrived at her personal palette and makes some thought-provoking points. I wish I were as together and as focused at her age. Also, read her review of L'Artisan's Timboktu.
While I don't necessarily agree with all the points made on Beauty And The Bullshit in this post about makeup brushes (I'll talk about it more soon, I promise), it is still worth reading and considering. Some of the information is very important.
A review of By Kilian Love And Tears (Surrender) on Feminine Things.
Yesterday's Perfume made me curious about a forgotten Max Factor perfume.

Enjoy your weekend, be it long or short, shop with joy and wear your sunscreen.

  1. Thank you, Gaia. That means a lot coming from you. I'm in awe of how much product you process on a weekly basis, always with such a sharply critical eye. I always trust your blog to give it as it is.
