Laura Mercier Black Violet Kohl Eye Pencil

I'm scared of purple eye makeup the same way many are petrified of blue and green eye shadow (both colors can be found in abundance among my pretties). However, Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencils were made for the phobics, as they're blackened versions of the colors. So far I've amassed three (see Black Turquoise here), and they get lots of use and love.

Black Violet Kohl Pencil is among my favorite "not quite black" eyeliners. The violet shade is very muted and elegant; it never makes my eyes look bruised. I use it often and generously, lining, tightlining, smoking out, and always admire the long-lasting abilities, including in high heat and humidity.

Bottom Line: one of the best.

Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil ($19) is available from the counters, Sephora and lauramercier.com.

Pictures, content and lame drawing are all mine. If you're reading this anywhere other than my blog or feed, it means my content is stolen and I'm not amused.

  1. You say petrified of blue and greens as if that were a bad thing. My eyes straddle the murk within grey, blue and green and the wrong blue or green color about the eye gives them a startlingly unattractive tinge. Ew. The right one is so pretty - but so hard to find.

  2. How dark is Black Navy of the same line?
It's all because of you, Gaia, I fall in love with blue eye make up!! :)
Recently purchased Chanel's Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Marine which I love and Shiseido's dark blue eye shadow, and I just love it, I feel that I've discovered a new universe :).
This summer I fall in love also in smoky violet (purple) eye make up, so I've purchased Chanel's Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Cassis, with which you are probably familiar :).

  3. I, too, have to be cautious about purples. Judging by your picture although you appear far more fair than me we have a similar undertone.

Greens can be complete disaster on me if not chosen very carefully.

I find navy's do well though. This liner looks lovely. Thank you for the swatch, I'll pick this one up. I've found that black for everyday is starting to look just a bit harsh on my 50 yr old eyes. Almost black works much better.

  4. I have LM Black Violet Kohl Eye Pencil. The trouble is, it never stays on for very long. But the colour is lovely.
