Chantecaille Sel Iridescent Eye Shadow

This is another one of those reviews that almost write themselves. Chantecaille Iridescent Eye Shadow in Sel is so pretty, versatile and basic that I find myself incorporating it into many eye makeup looks. It's gorgeous,  both on its own and when combined with other eye shadows, neutral and bright.

Chantecaille Sel is a very light taupe. I use it as my medium shade all over the lid, and on lazy days as the only color with smoked dark eyeliner. The result always looks a lot more refined that the effort that went into create the look. Chantecaille Iridescent eye shadows are all high in shimmer, but the buttery texture and careful elegance of the shades chosen for this range makes them a sophisticated choice.

Chantecaille eye shadows are among my top rated in quality and ease of use. Many of the shades they offer are too light or pastel-leaning for me (meaning they look perfect on the fair and blonde), but Sel is a a beautiful and unique color that would work for a broad range of skin tones.

Bottom Line: Love.

Chantecaille Iridescent Eye Shadows ($30) are available from top department stores and online.

  2. I have several shadows by Chantecaille and love them all. Some of the deeper colors make beautiful multi-dimensional liners and, of course, they blend so effortlessly into Chantecaille's array of gorgeous base shades. And as for the lovely highlighter Pearl . . . No one should be without Pearl!

Chantecaille's extraordinary conservation palettes get all the publicity they so well deserve, but their single eyeshadows are also exemplary and are well worth trying. And, if you buy the refills which come in a serviceable plastic container, they are quite a bargain at $21 a piece.

  3. Oooo I had been wondering about Sel. No Chante counters near me and all the swatches conflicted with one another. This looks right up my alley and one of those shades I rely on for a 2-minute work eye. I appreciate the recognition regarding all the pastels in their line I've tried (albeit unsuccessfully) to make them my own. Makes me think I'm not crazy (that much).

  5. Oh my goodness, that is gorgeous! I have my eye on a couple of the Chantecaille eyeshadows. Incidentally, I got to have a play with the LM Caviar Eye Sticks and they are fantastic. I have to wait till next month for them to be on counter though, boo....

  7. I have never tried a Chantecaille shadow, and have always wanted to. The one I have in mind is Granite. It belongs to the shine family of shadows, I believe. This one is pretty too; although a bit frosty for me. So glad it works for you. It is very pretty.

  9. Tryly beautiful. Gaia, how does Sel compares to Burberry's rosewood eyeshadow, just curious.

    Thanks.

  10. Yikes, how did I miss this post? Sel is one of my favorites, and even though it's iridescent, I don't find it to be frosty at all, and I really dislike frost. What I love most about this eyeshadow is its complexity. Is it taupe? Is it gold? Is it silver? Is it pewter? Is it mauve? Sometimes when I work at home, I swatch Sel and Granite on the back of my hand so I can enjoy the colors--it's not like I get to look at my eyes very often after I have applied eyeshadow. I think Sel is one of those colors that many different skin tones could wear.

I removed Obsedian from the Palette D'Olivia and popped in Sel, which is much more versatile. Love it and love the brand. Big time! Thanks for your review, it gave me warm fuzzies.

Oh, and I agree 100% with Eileen about Perle.
